Why read the Gospels this way?
Many of us search the Torah every week for connections to Jesus, yet rarely read his own story from beginning to end. The Gospels were written to be read whole, and when you follow them straight through, they push back on the explanations we've been handed and call for a response (John 20:30-31). The Gospel Cycle gives Jesus' story that same sustained weekly attention, alongside the Torah and Haftarah readings, for anyone who confesses him as Messiah. Read 2-3 chapters during the week, reflect on what the passage asks of you, talk it through with others, and read one short article each Thursday.
Read why I started the Gospel Cycle ->One portion each week
Read the story in sequence.
Follow Matthew, Mark, Luke, Acts, and John across 52 portions, with three additional festival readings. Read the main passage during the week leading to the listed Sabbath.
The Torah and Haftarah columns offer that date’s companion readings for further study. They give you an annual rhythm for exploring the Scriptures Jesus read. Start with the Gospel or Acts passage, and explore the companions at your own pace.
