New ideas can be filled with promise...or they can scare us to the point of anger. The Bible is filled with new ideas, although many of us fail to recognize this fact as we have grown up in a culture very different from that of ancient Israel. Genesis 1 - creation without conflict and of a single class of humanity - was a new idea. Yeshua as king without slaughtering the people we disagree with was a new idea. But new ideas take time to work themselves out on our reality. In this teaching, we will explore this concept and see just how revolutionary the Bible truly was and continues to be to this day.
“No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’ ”
