Intro to the Psalms as Torah

Welcome to the new series on the Psalms! For the next two years, we will be going through the Psalms chapter by chapter to discover its ancient Near Eastern Hebrew context. Special focus areas will be on connections to the Torah, honor & shame, justice & righteousness, the Messiah, and the kingship of YHWH. The Psalms will be split into 50 separate sections consisting of 2-4 psalms each video and a video will be posted every other week. However, before we can begin with reading the Psalms, I will begin with an introduction to the Psalms covering its historical usage, thematic connections, types of psalms, analysis of the lament, order and disorder, and the structure of the Psalms. I pray you enjoy!

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord, and in His Torah he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

Ryan, great intro. Just an FYI, the link for the PPT doesn’t work. It just loops you back to this page.
