Honor in Marriage

honormarriage

We all know the statistics ā€“ over 50% of modern marriages end in divorce and a great many couples who take seriously ā€œuntil death us do partā€ are incredibly unhappy. Bookstore shelves are inundated with books about marriage and counseling, but apart from occasional success stories, the problem goes unabated ā€“ especially within the believing community. What are we missing? Western society has lost the sense of community-belonging that fills every page of the Scriptures, and along with that we have also lost our God-given sense of what honor and shame mean. Instead, we strive for the appearance of innocence and the avoidance of looking guilty ā€“ spending our lives on the run from what God is trying to communicate to us about how we treat one another. As our divorce and unhappiness rate shows us, however, we havenā€™t been able to completely suppress our strong need to experience honor and to avoid shame. We are silently crying out for dignity. In this series, we will focus on the restoration of our marriages by learning to focus upon restoring honor to our spouses - restoring their dignity. Rather than playing the blame game, we will learn to show our partner that we truly value them and respect them. We will also focus upon restoring the proper roles within the marriage with the husband as the one who gives and the wife as the one who receives, nurtures, and reciprocates. It is vitally important to reestablish God's original design for the marital relationship and in order to do so we must understand what it means Biblically to be the leader of a household.

An accomplished woman who can find? Her value is far beyond rubies. Her husbandā€™s heart trusts in her, and he lacks nothing valuable. She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life.

i really enjoyed this , i was so caught up on studying torah and eventually it lead to the wrong reasons, such as knowledge and self rightousness that i never looked into how to apply it to myself enough and my marriage , if you have further resources id love to get ahold of those , great teaching. i just wanna be a better husband , father and step father . i want to be a benefactor , not a burden . thanks ryan.
