Introduction to Kingdom Covenants

ane-covennats

In this teaching we will be introducing some of the concepts associated with the ancient Near East and how connections made between recently discovered archaeological evidence and the Scriptures we know and love.  The recent research that has been done by many scholars has opened the door for us to understand many parts of Scripture that were previously hard to understand due to our gap in knowledge of the culture and customs of Biblical times We will discuss covenants, ancient Near Eastern treaties, Royal Grant treaties, Suzerainty treaties, and Parity treaties

The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the Lord.

Hmmmm….. how did I miss this one? Great teaching Ryan, nice break from Mendenhall – if I read “Deuteronomist” one more time today you might hear a primal scream all the way over in Israel!
